Pool & Spa

- Pool and Spa services are offered as an option by some of OAHI’s membership
- These services are offered as non-destructive and as visual inspections at the time of the inspection only
- Pool & Spa services are informational and limited
- Typical time to perform – 1 hour
- Pool and Spa inspections will provide information on recommended next steps for maintenance, health & safety concerns, damaged or expired pool equipment, and potential concerns with septic systems, conservation areas, and municipal bylaws
- There are 2 styles of pools – in-ground and above ground
- There are 3 construction styles for in-ground
- There is one construction style for above ground
- Typical Equipment
- Furnace (solar, gas, heat pump, co-shared)
- Filter (Sand, cartridge, diatomaceous earth)
- Hygiene (Chlorine, bromine, salt – electro-chemical)
- Pool Water composition – tap water, salt water
- Typical Addons – low voltage DC in-pool lighting, solar blanket & reel, diving board and slides
- Common issues:
- Inadequate sanitizer
- ‘Bound’ chlorine sanitizer
- PH level
- Air in return water jet(s)
- Algae bloom
- Cloudy (milky) water
- Leakage
- Wrinkled/torn liner (vinyl)
- Pitted/gouged or missing tile finish (concrete/gunite)
- Coping damage
- Water in lighting equipment
- Poor water circulation
- Expired / EOL equipment
- Incorrect back flushing and disposal
