Wood-destroying organisms means any organism that is capable of destroying the structural integrity of wood, including but not limited to: termites, wood infesting beetles, carpenter ants, carpenter bees and wood decaying fungi.

Scope within residential home inspections:

While most home inspection standards do not require the inspector to identify or determine the presence of wood destroying organisms, inspectors do report on any visible damage caused to the structure or other components.
